Issues to address in HD 108

 

 

Healthcare: Expanding access to quality healthcare for everyone, especially working families, seniors, and veterans.  Advocate for more funding for hospitals.  Fight to keep prescription cost down.

 

Education: Promote more funding to Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Programs. Stop over-testing our students in school. Promote educational programs for children and adults.  Support parent choice programs.  Encourage community wrap around after-school programs for communities in need.  Support pay raise for educators/teachers. Affordable higher education.

 

Public safety: Reduce crime with crime prevention programs for youth.  Community partnership with law enforcement to promote more crime watch neighborhood groups.  Support gun reform.

 

Immigration: Provide more education and awareness on importance of becoming a citizen as well as the resources available in the community.  Promote immigration reform.

 

Economy: Equal pay for women in Florida. Increase minimum wage to $15/hr throughout the state. Promote paid sick leave. Create quality jobs here in the State.

 

Job training programs and workforce skills: Promote more resources for vocational careers through workforce development programs. Support businesses to be more engaged with the education system in providing on the job training and apprenticeship opportunities.

 

Small Businesses: Provide more support and programs to aid entrepreneurs and small businesses. Cut red-tape regulations for small businesses.

 

Environment: Addressing the climate change effects that are affecting our communities: sea level rise, flooding, and quality water.
